iKontroller for iOS/iPadOS

Setup Guide

1. Install iKontroller on your iPhone/iPad
2. Open the app and enter your username
3. Grant Local Network permission when prompted: Settings → Privacy and Security → Local Network → Enable iKontroller
4. Ensure your iPhone/iPad and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network, Cellular network or connected via USB-C/Lightning cable.
5. Navigate to "Device Pairing" and wait for your Mac's username to appear in the device list or simply perform a manual refresh by tapping the "Refresh" symbol
6. Tap your Mac's username to pair with it and follow the on-screen instructions
7. When successfully paired; you are now ready to control!

Creating Custom Layouts

Step 1: Create a New Layout

1. Navigate to "My layouts"
2. Tap the + button to create a new layout
3. Enter a name for your layout

Step 2: Add Controls

• Navigate to "Add Control"
• Customize and Add: Button, Joystick, Gyrostick, Touchpad, Left region & Right region, Combined Left & Right region, Scroll region.

Step 3: Edit Controls

• Enter Editor Mode
• Position and re-size your added Controls

Step 3: Map Controls

1. Enter Mapping Mode
2. Tap a button, joystick or gyrostick
3. Press any key(s) on your Mac's keyboard
4. The key(s) will be captured and assigned to that specific button, joystick or gyrostick.
5. Buttons are mapped to a single key and Joysticks/Gyrosticks are mapped to 4 keys(Directions: up, down, left, right)

Device Pairing

Pairing your Mac

1. Ensure your iPhone/iPad and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network, Cellular network or connected via USB-C/Lightning cable.
2. On your iPhone/iPad, navigate to Device Pairing and select your Mac's username from the nearby devices list
3. A 6-digit code will appear on your Mac
4. Enter this code on your iPhone/iPad
5. The devices are now paired!

Managing Paired Devices

• Forget: Remove a device as paired and delete all its mappings and data
• Block: Remove a device as paired, delete all its mappings and data and prevent the device from pairing again. A blocked device cannot send you any pairing requests and data
• Unblock: Settings → Blocked Devices → Unblock

Connection Methods

Wi-Fi network / Cellular network

• Lowest latency when on 5GHz network
• No cables required
• Automatic reconnection

USB-C cable / Lightning cable

• Zero latency
• Most stable connection
• Automatic reconnection

Troubleshooting iOS Issues

I am not discovering my Mac on my iPhone/iPad

• Grant Local Network permission on Mac: System settings → Privacy and Security → Local Network → Enable iKontroller Desktop
• Grant Local Network permission on iOS when prompted: Settings → Privacy and Security → Local Network → Enable iKontroller
• Ensure your iPhone/iPad and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network, Cellular network or connected via USB-C/Lightning cable.
• Restart both apps
• Turn off firewall

Controls Not Responding

• Ensure controls are mapped
• Check connection status indicator
• Try disconnecting and reconnecting
• Grant Accessibility permission on Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → Enable iKontroller Desktop

Haptic Feedback Not Working

• Check the Haptic Feedback toggle before adding a control
• Adjust haptic intensity
• Note: Some older iPhones/iPads have limited haptic capabilities
