iKontroller for iOS

Setup Guide

1. Download iKontroller from the iOS App Store
2. Open the app and enter your username
3. Grant Local Network permission when prompted
4. Ensure your iPhone/iPad is on the same Wi-Fi as your Mac or that they are connected via USB-C/Lightning cable
5. Wait for your Mac to appear in the device list or simply perform a manual refresh by tapping the "Refresh" symbol in the Device Pairing screen
6. Tap your Mac to pair with it and follow the on-screen instructions

Creating Custom Layouts

Step 1: Create a New Layout

1. Tap the Layouts button in the top-left
2. Tap the + button to create a new layout
3. Enter a name for your layout (e.g., "FPS Game", "Minecraft")

Step 2: Add Controls

• Buttons: Add from the palette; resize, position, and tap to map to a key
• Joysticks: Add from the palette; resize, position, map each direction (up, down, left, right)
• Touchpad: Add for mouse/cursor and in-game camera movement
• Left and Right regions: Add for left and right single/double clicks and long press
• Scroll Wheel: For vertical/horizontal scrolling

Step 3: Map Keys

1. Enter Mapping Mode
2. Tap a button or joystick; which allows you to map it
3. Press any key on your Mac's keyboard
4. Buttons are mapped to a single key and Joysticks are mapped to 4 keys(up, down, left, right)
5. The key(s) will be captured and assigned to that specific button or joystick

Device Pairing

Pairing a New Mac

1. Ensure your iPhone/iPad and Mac are on the same network or connected via USB-C/Lightning cable
2. On your Mac, go to the Device Pairing tab
3. On iOS, select your Mac from the discovered devices
4. A 6-digit code will appear on your Mac
5. Enter this code on your iOS device
6. The devices are now paired!

Managing Paired Devices

• Forget: Remove a device as paired and delete all its mappings and data
• Block: Remove a device as paired, delete all its mappings and data and prevent the device from pairing again. A blocked device cannot send you any data
• Unblock: Settings → Blocked Devices → Unblock

Connection Methods

Wi-Fi

• Lowest latency when on 5GHz network
• No cables required
• Automatic reconnection

USB-C/Lightning cable

• Zero latency
• Most stable connection
• Requires Lightning or USB-C cable

Troubleshooting iOS Issues

I am not discovering my Mac on my iPhone/iPad

• Check Local Network permission: Settings → Privacy and Security → Local Network → Enable iKontroller
• Ensure both Mac and iPhone/iPad are on same Wi-Fi network or connected via USB-C/Lightning cable
• Restart both apps
• Check Wi-Fi settings (not using VPN or guest network)

Controls Not Responding

• Ensure controls are mapped to keys
• Check connection status indicator
• Try disconnecting and reconnecting
• Verify Mac Accessibility permissions are granted. On Mac; System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → Enable iKontroller

Haptic Feedback Not Working

• Check Haptic Feedback toggle in settings
• Adjust haptic intensity
• Note: Some older iPhones/iPads have limited haptic capabilities
